7. The Gifts of The Holy Spirit

Now Paul, who was also Saul of Tarsus, did a lot of miracles after he was called as one of the apostles testifying the Gospel of Christ. (Rom 2:16) And Paul said, "We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith." (Romans 12:6) and he, Paul also said, “I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God's grace given me through the working of his power.”

The Christian God is a God of purposes (Isaiah 55:10-11, Deuteronomy 32:47) and He (God) does not first called a person without empowering him and this ‘empowerment’ may not necessary meant a magician power of empowerment. (Jeremiah 12:5, See 1 Kings 19:3-10: How Elijah ran for his life)

In Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. To equip God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Romans 12:5-8; Ephesians 4:10-13)

Ephesians 4:10-12 tell us, for Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up and all these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines. And in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. (John 13:14; Romans 12:4-6; 1 Corinthians 12:11; Ephesians 4:4-6)

The Holy Spirit is a gift of God and tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38; Hebrews 2:4) God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. And Paul said, yet not all are apostles, yet not all are prophets, yet not all are teachers, yet not all are workers of miracles, yet not all have gifts of healing, yet not all speak in tongues and yet not all can interpret tongues.

Jesus says, “Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.” There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. (Mark 10:43-44; 1 Corinthians 12:28-31)
